Intense and passionate, Scorpios make memorable first impressions. With their strong belief in whatever they do, they have the ability to become great achievers, as they contain a never-ending source of physical and emotional energy that fuels their every thought, feeling, and action. Scorpios crave power more than anything, and if this goes unchecked, they can develop a cynical view of life. Extremists to the core, they don’t understand the meaning of the word "moderation," which can make them a complete pain to the people around them. However, they devote themselves to whatever, and whomever they pursue, and never give up until they have won them over. Illogically envious of the achievements of others, they can sometimes be underhanded and vindictive, scheming and plotting ways to gain control of a situation. Nevertheless, Scorpios enjoy life to the fullest, living out every pleasure, and often encouraging their loved ones to join them on the thrill ride of life.

Myth-Information. The origin of the sign of Scorpio is found in the complex, yet tragic tale of the handsome hunter-giant Orion. Orion, while incredibly good-looking, was also overly proud of himself. He bragged that he was so magnificent a hunter that he could wipe out all the wild herds on Earth. Apollo, who among other things was in charge of guarding the herds, was so infuriated by Orion’s boastings that he sent a giant scorpion to sting him to death.

This is what the Orion constellation looks like in the sky--the three stars in a row form his belt!
Apollo’s sister, Artemis (the Huntress), who loved Orion, tried to intervene by shooting the scorpion with one of her famous arrows. Unfortunately, she missed and shot Orion instead. As a a memorial to her beloved, Artemis placed Orion as a constellation in the sky. She gave the scorpion his own seven-starred constellation; every time it appears on the horizon, Orion starts to sink into the other side of the sky, still running from his attacker.

Here is what the Scorpio constellation looks like in the sky--the bright stars form the Scorpions head and curling tail.
Soul Journey. Our soul is ready to go on its second journey into the element of Water (the first one was in the sign of Cancer), and the feminine night forces of the Scorpio Consciousness. This will not be an easy stage of evolution: While in Libra, it faced numerous bumps in the road, heartbreaks, mind games, and sacrificing pieces of its individuality to appease and charm the world around it. Now, perhaps a little embittered by these experiences, the Scorpio soul refuses to live life as a people-pleaser, and focuses upon the mystery of his own existence.
Those born in the sign of Scorpio are fascinated by all the great mysteries of the universe. Be it death, the human psyche (especially fear), ghosts and supernatural entities, darkness, the left-hand path, Scorpios are interested. But be warned--even though Scorpio uncovers all these various mysteries with sheer delight, he is fiercely protective of his own mystery. He’ll go through extreme lengths to protect his secrets (only a fool would risk being stung by a scorpion’s venomous stinger!). Scorpio is protective about his mystery because he’s scared that his secrets will be revealed. Some people keep secrets as a show of loyalty, or to have power over another person (Scorpio is a Power sign). But because he's filled with intense emotional energy, Scorpio tends to think his secrets are incredibly important, even if they're not. He also might be afraid that these secrets will make him appear weak.
Try to get close to a Scorpio, and you have work to do. He might appear to be the nicest and friendliest person you've ever met, but secretly, he might put you through various tests of all sorts to prove your worth. Once you win Scorpio’s approval, he'll slowly begin to reveal his true self. You can be sure that once you’ve passed every test Scorpio throws at you, he'll be fiercely loyal. But beware! Break a Scorpio’s trust, and not only will you be cut off from their life, but… well, let’s just say it would be a nice idea to move to another town and start a new life with a new identity! This is rare, however--Scorpio’s sheer intense devotion to someone they love and trust is unmatchable.
All Scorpios possess a certain magnetism that’s virtually impossible to resist. It’s something with their eyes--dark and deep or light and tender, their eyes will always possess a hypnotic quality that will draw you in the minute they place their gaze upon you. They have an uncanny ability to get their way with people. Once a Scorpio soul sets their sights on you, they’ll never rest until they win you over--just like Hades tricking Persephone into tasting the seeds of Pomegranates that grew in the underworld, ensuring that she would return to him every year no matter what...

Scorpio's motto is “I DESIRE,” anything from intense love and devotion, to the darker side of ruthless vengeance. Scorpio is a sign that finds it ever so hard to forgive and forget (especially forget!). But it's not all negative. Scorpio also never forgets an act of kindness and love, and will always remember every act of compassion and generosity.
Here’s another mystery about Scorpio we all should know. There are THREE types of Scorpios: The Scorpion, The Grey Lizard, and The Eagle. The Scorpion is the most common variety, scared and protective of itself with its hard shell, pincers, and deadly venomous stinger that it won’t hesitate to use the moment it feels threatened. This variety believes in the whole ‘eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth’ philosophy. Like most scorpions, if they feel they are losing the battle, then they will sting themselves with their stinger as a weird manner of protecting themselves.

The Grey Lizard variety are less common, but are the ones who tend to bottle up all their intense emotions and thirst for vengeance within themselves. It’s almost like they drink their own venom while wishing their adversaries to be poisoned, thereby causing severe damage and harm only to themselves. This kind of deep melancholy and bitterness is so intense that it actually manifests into various ailments that can linger on for years and years.
And finally, the Eagle variety, though few, are the most evolved, for unlike the others, it channels its intense emotional energy to soar above all these destructive tendencies, reaching the greatest heights known to mankind, causing others to look up to them with awe and respect.
All three types lie deep within each and every Scorpio soul. Even the most terrified Scorpion, or the most embittered Grey Lizard can transform into an Eagle. Pluto gifts the Scorpio soul the power of evolution, enabling him to always survive and rise above problems like a true champion. All he needs is to believe he can do it.
The Scorpio soul’s Karmic Goal is to understand the great mysteries of life, and their destiny is REGENERATION. Unless he can find the creative treasure hidden in the heart of darkness, he cannot fulfill his destiny as one of the most insightful and powerful signs of the Zodiac. He must allow his power to flow through him, rather than claiming power over others so that he can fulfill his transformative role in life. With his endurance, and incredible survival skills, he's up to the challenge!
U ntil next time, Blessed Be!
